REview
California fire, flood, earthquake and environmental layers, drawn right on the Compass and Redfin home-search maps.
Covers Los Angeles, Orange and Ventura counties and the core Bay Area. It's a bookmark you tap on a Compass or Redfin page: nothing to install.
Add it
- Tap Copy bookmark code below.
- Bookmark this page: tap Share, then Add Bookmark. Name it REview and save it to Favorites.
- Open your bookmarks (the book icon), tap Edit, tap REview, and replace its address with the copied code. Tap Done.
Copied
- Show your bookmarks bar (Safari: View > Show Favorites Bar; Chrome: Bookmarks > Show Bookmarks Bar).
- Drag this button onto the bar:
REviewDrag it; clicking it here does nothing.
Use it
- Open a Compass or Redfin search map (or a listing) and tap the REview bookmark.
- Fire and flood zones appear on the map. (If they don’t within a few seconds, pan the map once.)
- Tap the layers button on the left edge to choose what to show (seismic, tsunami, noise, freeways, pollution, schools, tree cover, views and more). Each layer's i explains what it means for a buyer.
- Tap the map (or hover, on a computer) to see every layer at that spot.
- On a listing page, a chip on the right edge summarizes that property's hazards. Tap it for details.
Tap the bookmark again after the page fully reloads. Tapping it while REview is on opens the layer list.
Good to know
- A screening tool, not a disclosure. The layers come from public sources (CAL FIRE, FEMA, the California Geological Survey, OEHHA CalEnviroScreen, CalGEM, DTSC, LA County). Check the official Natural Hazard Disclosure for any home you're serious about.
- Private. REview runs only when you tap it, in your browser. It collects nothing; your layer choices stay on your device.
- Independent. Not affiliated with Compass or Redfin; it only changes what you see on their pages. Personal use.
